In the heart of Muntinlupa, a bustling outdoor event space set the stage for the much-anticipated Mr. Weidmann 2023 Men’s Physique and Bodybuilding Show on December 9th, 2023. Locals, fans, and bodybuilding enthusiasts gathered to witness the spectacle unfold, making it a remarkable day for the community.
Despite the outdoor setting, the organizers ensured a comfortable experience for spectators. The venue was well-shaded, and Mother Nature contributed with a gentle breeze, creating an ambiance that kept everyone at ease and engaged in the excitement. As attendees strolled through the outdoor space, they were greeted by a lively atmosphere with sponsors and various food concession booths lining the area. Whether craving the latest protein shake or a hearty hamburger, there was something for every palate to savor. A side note, the empanadas at one particular stand were a crowd favorite—undeniably the best and reasonably priced.
In true Filipino fashion, the event kicked off fashionably late, a little over an hour behind schedule. However, by the time the proceedings began, the crowd had swelled, extra chairs were brought in, the sun had set, and the stage spotlights illuminated the anticipation in the air. One aspect that caught the attention of many attendees was the limited participation in the women’s open bikini category. Perhaps due to inadequate promotion or the location in Muntinlupia, hosted by a gym not widely known for bodybuilding events, it was somewhat disheartening to witness only one athlete on stage. Nevertheless, the presence of esteemed local Filipino bikini competitor Myra Golloso as a guest judge added a touch of prestige to the occasion.
The real highlight of the show undoubtedly revolved around the pose downs. During one of the men's pose downs, a contestant broke from tradition, descending to ground level and posing directly in front of the judges and the crowd. To the delight of onlookers, his fellow competitors joined him on the ground, turning a routine moment into a spectacular one. The enthusiasm was palpable, showcasing the camaraderie and spirit within the bodybuilding community.
With an entrance ticket priced at a mere 150Php, Mr. Weidmann 2023 proved to be the most affordable show for any bodybuilding fan. The prizes offered were impressive, especially considering it was a local event not affiliated with major organizations like IFBB or WWF. The affordability and substantial rewards underscore the potential for success in local shows.
