The Mr. Weidmann Classic bodybuilding show, held on September 15, 2024, marked a significant improvement from the previous year's event. Last year's outdoor venue, while shaded and with plenty of food vendors, fell short of the expectations set by Elite Fitness Center. However, this year's event, held in a spacious sports center, provided a much-improved atmosphere for both competitors and spectators, a massive step in the right direction.
The show boasted a stellar lineup of judges, including the recently crowned Men's Overall Champion from IFBB's Body Evolution, Coach Wins Hipe. Other renowned figures in the bodybuilding world, such as Ming Jereza, Mado Tamayo, and Kerwin Go, also graced the judging panel.
The lighting at this year's event was impeccable, perfectly illuminating the athletes' oiled bodies and making their abs pop on stage. The spotlights framing the stage, combined with the dry ice effects, created a captivating atmosphere reminiscent of a rock concert. Even the color scheme selected perfectly created a picture-perfect scene on stage for the athletes. No filters were needed for audience members snapping pictures and taking videos. The large screen on stage, showcasing each category's title, was a thoughtful addition, especially for those who were new to the event.
While the event's organization and production were top-notch, there were a few areas where improvements could be made. The lack of food and drink vendors, especially cold beverages, was a minor disappointment. While there was a vendor that provided freshly brewed coffee, a wider range of options would have kept spectators engaged, satisfied, and at the event instead of venturing outside to search for refreshments. Ironically, the event's weakness last year, the assortment of food vendors, was its strength this year.
Despite these minor shortcomings, the Mr. Weidmann Classic was a resounding success. The event's organizers have clearly learned from the previous year and made significant strides in improving the overall experience. With continued growth and innovation, the Mr. Weidmann Classic has the potential to become one of the most prestigious bodybuilding events in the Philippines hosted by a local gym, earning them much respect.
The event's focus is on male bodybuilding, as indicated by its name. However, the inclusion of a women's bikini category in the previous year suggests that the organizers may be open to expanding the event in the future. Perhaps next year, we'll see the return of the women's bikini category and possibly the addition of a women's figure category, further diversifying the competition and attracting a wider audience. Who knows? The organizers of the Mr. Weidmann Classic surprised us big time this year. And, if they could pull off such a significant upgrade this year, imagine what they have in store for next year!
And without much ado, here is the Winner's List...
